Step 1: Select the appropriate type of soft jaws. Choose the jaw material based on the workpiece material—for processing easily damaged components such as aluminum alloy or plastic, use polymer composite soft jaws; for processing hard metal parts requiring frequent model changes, use adjustable soft jaws; for ultra-high precision applications (e.g., semiconductor components), opt for magnetic soft jaws.
Step 2: Precise installation and adjustment. After mounting the soft jaws onto the chuck, rotate the chuck without load and use a dial indicator to calibrate the concentricity of the soft jaws, ensuring an error of ≤0.01 mm. Then, fine-tune the jaw position according to the workpiece dimensions. During clamping, apply moderate force to avoid crushing the workpiece due to excessive pressure or displacement caused by insufficient tightness.
Step 3: Post-processing inspection and maintenance. After processing, promptly clean debris from the jaw surfaces. When not in use for extended periods, remove the soft jaws and store them properly to prevent moisture and rust, thereby extending their service life.
